Frequently Asked Questions

I have never done therapy. I am nervous to reach out.

I understand. It can be a hard thing to ask for support, but I commend you for showing up for yourself in this way. I offer a complimentary 20 minute consultation to help ease some of these anxieties and answer questions you may have.

Do I have to come to therapy for a specific reason?

Absolutely not. Sometimes we may have had a recent transition in life that is bringing something to the forefront or one may have had a traumatic experience or distressing childhood. These are just some of the reasons why people seek healing. However, people also seek healing and more fulfillment even when they are not sure why they feel sad or discontented. I often work with people who are ready to feel more joy and peace and improve their relationship with themselves and others. Together we will look at areas of your life, your goals and use your feelings as a guide to help deepen your connection with yourself.

What are your therapy rates?

Individual Sessions 50-minute session/$160

Couples 50-minute session/$180

If you require a fee reduction, I do have a limited number of spots offered on a sliding scale. Additionally, I may be able to connect you with another therapist if I am full.

Do you accept insurance?

Not at this time, but I am happy to provide a superbill so that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I recommend connecting with your insurance to see if this is an option.

How often will we meet for therapy sessions?

Initially I recommend meeting weekly in order for therapy to be most beneficial. Like many parts of our life, consistency is key to making progress. Showing up consistently helps foster the relationship between therapist and client that allows for one to feel safe, seen and heard. As progress is made, of course we continue to the conversation to meet your needs and can adjust your schedule accordingly. For instance, one may feel accomplished in their goals and ask to meet monthly for a booster or simply space for self care. This is a welcome conversation and one I encourage in our time together.

How long will I need to come?

Therapy varies based on individuals. Some come briefly for a specific crisis for instance and may feel complete after 3-6 months. Others view therapy as a part of their overall wellness and continue for years utilizing the space for self-care and ongoing personal growth.

Can we talk before we meet?

Absolutely! Reach out for a complimentary 20 minute consultation.

How is therapy different than talking to a supportive friend?

This is a great question. Our relationships including friends, family and chosen family are essential to our overall well being. They nurture us and provide us comfort, support and love. I am always pleased when a client has a support system they feel they can rely on. However, relationships also rely on give and take and holding space for more than one person in the relationship. Think of times when a someone has been there for you and times when you have been there for someone. This is the very thing that makes relationships so beautiful. That said, therapy is a space just for you. It is a space where the intent and focus is on you and your thoughts, your feelings and your wishes for creating a more fulfilling life. Most of us, have the things we keep to ourselves out of fear of hurting someone’s feelings, or what it might mean by just saying something out loud. My hope for you is that therapy is place where you can share your deepest pains and your deepest desires freely and without judgement. By doing so, deep healing can occur.

Notice of Good Faith

Under the law, health care providers are asked to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. As a client, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.  If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
